Disruption in electric power transmission due to tower failure during a natural disaster like cyclone or earthquake
Solutions
Temporary, reusable, alternate structure by quick assembly of emergency retrieval system at the disaster site for immediate restoration of power.
Brief description
Emergency Retrieval System (ERS) is lightweight modular system used as temporary support structure to restore power immediately after the collapse of transmission line towers during a cyclone or earthquake. ERS is modular, made of structurally more stable box sections and provides complete solution from member connections up to the foundation for different type of soil conditions. The system is reusable, made of lightweight materials and verified through rigorous structural tests. Basic knowledge and tools are enough to assemble and install ERS at the disaster site. Suitable configurations for different voltage-class transmission line systems are possible. The system is compact and yet provides full functionality on erection. The system is useful for building disaster resilient society. The proposed technology is import substitute and costs less than 40% of the imported system. The package consists of technical specifications, fabrication details including structural drawings and bill of materials.
